Walk to McLeod Gung, + short drive
Visit the Tibetan Government in Exile and temple building, and Medical Museum
Lunch at Chonor House Hotel /or other
Afternoon: tea at Norbulinka, Tibetan Summer Palace, cultural centre and gardens

 

CHAMUNDRA DEVI TEMPLE - 1 hr drive by car

Lunch at temple complex, very entertaining; lots of stalls, trinkets and statues
Afternoon: either Animal Park or narrow guage railway from Billing to Kangra

 

 


HOT SPRINGS & MASROOR TEMPLE
- 1.5 hrs by car

Picnic at the truly delightful ancient Masroor Temple, renowned for its rock carvings
A afternoon: half-hour walk through beautiful country and jungle by a river to the springs, in an old stone baths and ancient creeper-covered ruined temple, followed by swimming in the river on return walk

NADDI VILLAGE
Gentle walk to local village - great views - approx. 1 hr. via Dal Lake. Option of going to Guna, a tiny rural temple and a further beautiful walk.
Lunch at Himgiri Hotel /or other, visit & shopping at Tibetan Craft Centre

 

 

BHAGSUNAG VILLAGE

Walk down from Eagles Nest to village - approx. 45 mins, visit Water Temple, en route to McLeod Gunj
Lunch at Dharamsala. Afternoon option: shopping

 

 

 

TARAGARH PALACE HOTEL - 2.5 hrs by car

T o Kangra Valley and the Shiva Badrinath Temple and complex (one of India's oldest Hindu temples)
Lunch at Taragargh Palace Hotel: old Maharajah residence in beautiful gardens, now a hotel with swimming pool, drinks on the verandah, very relaxed.

Possible overnight stay in resthouse/tents
Easy walk to 9,500 ft - approx. 4 hrs, including tea-breaks, to alpine meadow above thee snowline: stunning views.
